Do you frequently visit and enjoy the parks in Gates? If you like to simply enjoy our parks, including Westgate Park, Lions Park, Memorial Park, Town Park or Wegman Road Park, on a regular basis then join the “Friends” of Gates Recreation and Parks where you can help voice your thoughts and opinions. We are looking for people to join this group who will help us look after our beautiful parks in order to keep them that way. Basically, we are encouraging people to enjoy the parks that they frequent while keeping an eye on what is going on around them. If there is something that you do not like, we ask that you report that. This could consist of anything from loitering, littering, malicious acts or something as simple as weeds that need to be removed. It is our goal to get the loyal park goers involved in our park preservation. A meeting regarding the specifics of what being a Park “Friend” entails will be held. Desert and coffee will be provided. Enclosed Picnic Shelters at Lions, Memorial & Westgate Parks: 9 AM to 9:45 PM
Persons wishing to reserve the shelters at Lions, Memorial, Wegman Road or Westgate Parks or the athletic fields may do so by obtaining a permit at the Gates Recreation and Parks office. Park shelters are available to rent from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. daily.
Enclosed Picnic Shelters at Lions, Memorial & Westgate Parks:

Ball Diamonds and Football/Soccer Fields
Athletic fields are available for rental. Permits will be issued after Gates Youth Sports Organizations schedules are set. Field fees are as follows based on 2 hours of use:

Security Deposit: There will be a fee of $50 required before a park key is issued to any individual. The Recreation and Parks Department reserves the right to hold all or any portion of this deposit if the shelter is left in poor condition. Upon return of the key and satisfactory inspection of the facility, this deposit is returned to you.
Park Shelter Reservation Refund/Change of Date Fee Policy: No refunds will be made unless notification of cancellation is given 20 working days in advance. Refunds will be 50% of fee paid and given only if another booking is secured for that day. There is a $20 charge for changes of date or location. Any date change must also be received at least 20 working days in advance.
The enclosed shelters at Lions, Memorial, or Westgate Parks, and the open shelters at Westgate and Wegman Road Parks can be reserved by obtaining a permit from the Gates Recreation & Parks Department. Permits are issued on a first come first serve basis. PLEASE NOTE: most weekend dates are currently reserved for the enclosed shelters at Lions, Memorial and Westgate Parks through the month of August. We are booking now through January 2009. Reservations for February 2009 - January 2010 will begin in January, 2009.
Our town facilities are monitored during the day by our Park Supervisor and staff and in the evening by a Park Safety Attendant. Please call 746-0191, if you have a park problem or emergency. The park ordinance is strictly enforced. Please do not park on grass or in emergency or fire lanes. Help keep Gates parks safe and clean.
